Virtual Roundtable Forum: Sustainability Challenges

A discussion on innovation drivers and sustainable strategies for industries

The adoption of sustainable strategies for industries in all sectors is fundamental and even mandatory in many cases to comply with environmental laws. Companies face challenges to predict scenarios that can cause an impact on the environment, thus allowing actions to avoid them.

Join us in a virtual roundtable discussion with experienced engineers and leaders describing what sustainability means to them and their organizations and the opportunities that engineering and simulation may play as enablers to meet sustainability objectives.

You will learn the vision of each speaker on this topic and participate in an open discussion focused on innovation drivers, strategies for decarbonization, and concepts on design for sustainability, including a Q&A at the end of the event.

Who should attend:
The event is designed for engineers, simulation and modeling practitioners, R&D directors, and managers responsible for innovation and sustainability.

Presented by:

Marcelo Precoppe

Crop Postharvest Technologist, University of Greenwich

Precoppe holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Sciences from the University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart, Germany. He joined the Natural Resources Institute at the University of Greenwich in 2017 as a Crop Postharvest Technologist. Earlier, between 2014 and 2016, Dr. Precoppe was a postdoctoral fellow at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA). Before joining IITA, Dr. Precoppe worked as a researcher at the University of Hohenheim in Germany and, between 2004 and 2006, he managed the University of São Paulo training farm on sustainable agriculture and rural development.

Micael Boulet

Numerical Group Lead, Enerkem

Micael Boulet is an Engineer, Numerical Group Lead at Enerkem. His absolute favorite tool is CFD and the likes, exploring the real world in its virtual counterpart, to predict and see through the walls. Since receiving his Ph.D. 10 years ago, he successfully applied numerical simulation in several industrial contexts, troubleshooting plants, improving ongoing operation, designing better equipment as well as creating new technologies. Gasification reactors and peripherals have been his biggest playground so far. He is also dedicated to developing a strong squad of simulation experts, at Enerkem.

Jorge Ferreira

Rocky DEM Director, CADFEM GmbH

Dr. Ferreira has an extensive background in simulation, CFD, combustion modelling, reacting and multiphase flows, and DEM. He collaborated with many commercial companies and university institutes, covering a broad range of applications. Ferreira holds a Ph.D. from the ETH in Zurich at the Energy Technology Department, where he worked as a Research Assistant. He also worked at AEA Technology as Managing Technical Support and Sales Teams of CFX, and as Director Sales and Business Development at Ansys in many European locations.

Ahmad Haidari

Senior Director Strategy and Business Development, Rocky DEM / ESSS

Ahmad.H. Haidari, Ph.D. has close to 30 years of experience in the application of engineering simulation and modeling technology to product development processes.
