Optimize solid processing equipment

Learn how to combine Rocky DEM simulation with parametric and sensitivity analysis to improve solid processing equipment

Efficient design and operation of solids handling equipment drives product quality and reduces waste. The design space often has many variables to consider, and simulating while knowing the influence of each key variable on the final design is important.

This webinar spotlights why simulation plays a vital role in developing innovative design and understanding key process parameters in solid processing equipment, and how industry leaders benefit from design optimization and simulation process automation tools.

Industry experts will offer an overview of Rocky DEM software, and explain how DEM simulation can be used in combination with optimization software in multiple industries — including mining, processing, and life sciences — to simulate particulate systems with large numbers of particles within reasonable engineering project time scales.

Learn how to combine Rocky and optiSLang to develop CAE-based robust design optimization, then explore a case study by Bayer.

What you will learn:

  • How to apply a Rocky DEM simulation to particulate and solids handling equipment
  • How to use simulation to optimize solid processing equipment: an industrial case study
  • Details on the sensitivity, parametric analysis, and application of optiSLang

Presented by:

Rakulan Sivanesapillai

Process Engineer, Bayer

Rakulan Sivanesapillai is a Mechanical Engineer with a PhD from the Ruhr University of Bochum in Germany. He joined Bayer AG in 2017 as a Process Engineer for solids processes in life sciences. In his current role, he applies mechanistic models such as DEM and CFD for the design and optimization of formulation processes.

Johannes Will

Senior Director Product Management, Ansys

Johannes Will is a Civil Engineer with a PhD in Structural Mechanics from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. He is the founder of the engineering and software company Dynardo GmbH with 20 years of experience implementing parametric design studies in virtual prototyping in various Industries. Ansys acquired Dynardo in 2019 to strengthen its software portfolio for PIDO (Process Integration and Design Optimization). Today Johannes works as Senior Director Product Management, with responsibility for PIDO and MBSE product lines.
